Who Is Jason Marchiafava?

A third-generation jeweller, Jason Marchiafava began his training at an early age, learning the fundamentals of fine jewellery craftsmanship at the family bench. To this day, he remains dedicated to hand-fabricating each piece, starting from raw materials like gold and platinum wire, or sheet, ensuring absolute control and attention to detail at every stage of production.

This hands-on approach allows Jason to fully engineer each design from the ground up, resulting in exceptional precision and efficiency, even in the most complex builds. His deep, technical understanding of every step in the manufacturing process gives him an edge few can match.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of artistic growth, Jason sought out advanced engraving apprenticeships, eventually earning distinction as one of the youngest master engravers ever recognized by the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (FEGA). Today, he continues to explore the possibilities of metal as a medium, producing works that showcase sculpted relief, bulino, and fine-line engraving with extraordinary finesse.
A True Master Craftsman
Jason Marchiafava’s path to becoming Tiffany & Co.’s first and only Master Craftsman was shaped by both legacy and restlessness. Raised in a traditional Italian-American family of jewellers, he began his training at age 11 at his father’s bench. Jason left home to refine his skills further, first to Traverse City and then Italy, learning from master engravers and absorbing the discipline of old-world craftsmanship.

Upon returning to the U.S., he continued his journey at the New Approach School for Jewelers as a Master Instructor. There, his dedication to preserving fading techniques met a new sense of purpose: mentorship and innovation. While at Tiffany & Co., he designed and led their craft departments and training centres. His global impact spans facility development, curriculum authorship, ergonomic innovation, and manufacturing optimisation.

During his tenure, Marchiafava became known for blending classical methods with modern vision. In 2017, he left Tiffany to launch his own studio in Nashville, focused on handmade fine jewellery and the continued evolution of American craftsmanship.
